During my journey as a martial artist, I have been blessed with the honor and privilege of touching what I call world treasures. These are martial teachers who exhibit amazing strength, ability, or skill, effortlessly, as if they have tapped into an ancient physical and energetic understanding of the human body. It is an honor to meet people like this, but it is even more so a privilege to touch them. Eddie, my Tai Chi sifu from Milwaukee (a disciple of Henry Wong) explained to me once, that to truly become a master you must know what one feels like. for instance if one of your goals is to attain the Tai Chi ability of effortless power, were the slitest touch can feel like a ton of bricks, then you need to find a teacher that can do this and will do it to you (without killing or injuring you of course) for once you have felt it you are that much closer to imitating it or becoming it, but if you never felt it, then it is a very long road of trial and error, that could literally span a lifetime. He quoted my Si Gung (grand teacher) Henry Wong "...if these ancient secrets are meant for you to have, they will find you!!! If they are not then they wont..." Throughout my journey of making the hip hop dynasty I encountered many martial arts teachers, and in my mind 8 world treasures. There were a few other teachers such as Bernard Langan, and Steve Seto but I did not have the pleasure of truly studying with them. To find this many treasures is truly a phenomenal life occurrence. For that I thank GOD, for if I never have to use what I have learned, the training alone has made me a better person all around, mentally as well as my health. I am one of those people who believe that everything in life happens for a reason.and who is constantly trying to decipher the meaning of occurrences in my life. After years of training and thought, I have come to the conclusion that I must create a family style that is a mixture of the fundamental foundations of each one of the martial art styles that I have been exposed to through the medium of these world treasures. I have always respected and enjoyed as-well as feared the power of the ocean. Since our bodies are over 80% water, we cant help but to feel connected to it. The sound of the ocean is soothing and tranquil. If you have ever stood by the ocean, you can literally feel it's energy, but lord forbid I'm ever in the way of a tidal wave, or in the center of a whirlpool. Being that I am an M.C. it's only natural that I connect the different martial arts and the ocean through similes. For example: (2) The knowledge I've acquired passed down from Lu De Xiao of the internal style of Pa Kua {pronunced Ba gwa, "The 8 Diagram Palm", Taiwan) represents a whirlpool in the center of the ocean. (3) The teachings of Pentjak Silat (Indonesia), taught to me by Eddie Deutsch represents a tidal wave landing on jagged rocks. |
