I am hip hop, but hip hop has changed into something damn near the opposite of what i represent. I'm not saying that I'm some goodie toe shoe that Doe's not acknowledge the shadow side of life, witch happens to be just as important as the light, at least in the context of understanding life as much as we possible can, so we may apply these understandings to our life, present and future.
I had a long talk with a friend who disagreed with me as to the role of hip hop today. I felt that although this musical culture has become devoid of purpose when it comes to just about anything empowering, while constantly propagating human behaviors that lead to misery, mentally, physical and spiritually,I feel it still posses the power to do the exact opposite, and leads to happiness.
My Friend felt that the machine that Runs hip hop would not allow anything positive to grow large enough to make a substantial difference. He felt that hip hop is dead, a rotted tree from the inside out, only producing rotten fruit. in that moment i was very offended. He went on to ask how did i feel hip hop would play a role in the uplifting of humanity.
I felt hip hop is the new language for ancient teachings that will usher our society into the age of Aquarius from the age of Pisces. the age of Aquarius stands for free flowing knowledge of mind.body and spirit. The question is how do we get the next generation, or even our generation, or better yet any generation to integrate meditation or any other empowering mental tools to an every day life practice.
Well I don't have all the answers, but i do have allot of works that range from full length Cd's,T.V shows, films, comics and a in and out of school program as well as innovative experiential views on an array of internal and external martial arts and ancient healing practices.
All of these elements at this time combine to form the WISDOM MOVEMENT. To try to live and encompass what it is to be wise. forever a student.
at the end of our conversation we both concluded Hip Hop is not dead, it's just seen its day.... as blues in it's day spawned rock 'n' roll, as Gospel parented Soul and R and B. We stand at the dawn of a new age, literally! and I'm putting my bid in for the health of humanity.
In closing we start this movement off with the full understanding, that i Professor Pitt come to the table not as a monk but a human being with strengths and weaknesses, and hopefully through this movement i can help strengthen others in area's they may be weak in as well as find those that with help me to do the same.
